Communication Intern

Emergent Method seeks a student intern to support a wide range of communication, marketing, and general business tasks for the firm. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with a strong desire to learn, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality work.
This internship is based in Baton Rouge, with flexible working hours and locations, and requires availability to work 20-30 hours per week. Please note this internship is designed to start in May and continue beyond the summer, with opportunities for extended involvement based on performance and availability.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Drafting deliverables such as newsletters, media releases, one-pagers, and reports
  • Creating content for social media and managing a content calendar
  • Designing social media graphics and formatting documents and presentations
  • Conducting research and maintaining lists, databases, and spreadsheets
  • Developing meeting agendas, summaries, and action items
  • Collaborating with team members to support various projects and tasks
  • Providing administrative and event support as needed

Minimum qualifications and expectations include:
  • Studying toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mass communication or a related field
  • Strong written communication skills, including an adept knowledge of AP Style guidelines
  • Strong visual communication skills, including an adept knowledge of Canva and Adobe InDesign
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, including X, Facebook, and LinkedIn, as well as trends
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to complete tasks
  • Effective time management, organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills
  • Strong work ethic with a keen attention to detail
  • In good academic standing
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities with demonstrated leadership experience
  • Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality regarding internal practices, as well as client names, projects, and other information
