Emergent Method is seeking an experienced and dynamic Accounting Manager to play a key role in accounting, financial operations, reporting, optimizing cash flow, and compliance. This role will involve hands-on management of accounting processes, including general ledger management, month-end close, and financial reporting.
The ideal candidate has experience with full cycle accounting, financial reporting, month-end and year-end closing processes, and internal controls and compliance. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Baton Rouge, LA, with some opportunities for hybrid work.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely
- Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements
- Assist in the preparation and review of budgets and forecasts, providing insights on variances
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting regulations (GAAP/GASB)
- Support in financial planning, cost analysis, and other strategic financial activities
- Collaborate with coworkers and project managers, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders in a professional manner and with a focus on customer service
- Manage and develop a team of finance professionals, providing guidance and ensuring accurate and timely completion of all accounting functions
- Assist in process improvement initiatives to enhance profitability and efficiency in accounting operations
- Manage fixed assets accounting and depreciation schedules
- Work with external CPA to prepare tax filings and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Three to eight years of accounting experience, with experience in general ledger, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/GASB
- Experience with accounting/invoicing software
- Ability to understand, summarize, and present financial and other data to different stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience in leading and developing a finance team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to operate with incomplete information, figure things out, and make informed decisions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
