On behalf of a client in the engineering industry, we are seeking a cost estimator to play a crucial role on a large-scale water and sewer program. The ideal candidate will possess a firm grasp on updating capital project costs, validating costs for active projects, and preparing Work Authorization proposals. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Atlanta, Georgia.

- Conduct comprehensive reviews and updates of capital project costs, ensuring all cost data is accurate and reflective of current market conditions
- Perform detailed cost validation for ongoing water and sewer projects.
- Identify discrepancies and provide solutions to ensure project budgets are adhered to
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for Work Authorization proposals, collaborating with project managers and engineers to develop accurate and competitive proposals
- Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to develop cost estimates
- Analyze project requirements and specifications to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates
- Apply in-depth knowledge of construction methodologies specific to water and sewer projects
- Ensure estimates are based on sound construction practices and innovative solutions
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, project managers, and engineers to ensure understanding and alignment on project costs
- Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and cost fluctuations, integrating market intelligence into cost estimates and project planning
- Maintain detailed records of all estimates, revisions, and final costings
- Prepare and present reports on cost estimates, variances, and project financial status
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost estimating within the construction industry, with a focus on water and sewer projects
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., RSMeans, Sage Estimating, HCSS HeavyBid)
- Extensive understanding of construction methodologies, particularly in the water and sewer sector
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
