We are seeking a dynamic and experienced accounting and finance professional to serve as our assistant controller. Reporting to the controller, the assistant controller will play an integral role in the day-to-day financial operations of the firm and support the management of the finance team. This role will ensure accurate financial reporting, manage accounting processes, optimize cash flow, prepare financial reports, and support the implementation of internal controls, financial policies, and process improvements.
The ideal candidate would provide strategic financial leadership while fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment within the finance department. This is a full-time position based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee the daily operations of the finance department, ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions
- Supervise and actively support the development of finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, training, feedback, and mentorship
- Prepare monthly financial statements and present them to the leadership team while providing insightful analysis and actionable recommendations for improvement
- Perform financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting for team members and clients
- Drive process improvements for internal tools and systems and complete standard and ad-hoc reports
- Manage payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all transactions
- Oversee the setup, maintenance, and closeout of projects and team members in various systems
- Maintain the department calendar, including invoicing and reporting deadlines, and ensure timely completion of financial tasks
- Provide additional support to team members and clients as needed
Desired qualifications include:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Three to five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial reporting, or a similar position within the private sector and/or public accounting
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with relevant managerial experience preferred
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data clearly and effectively to diverse audiences at all levels within the organization
- Proficiency in financial software, accounting systems, and the Microsoft Office suite
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A positive attitude and a dedication to extraordinary client and customer service
- A demonstrated record of discreetly handling confidential information
